And with Ware losing to Didcot Town, it is the Railwaymen who are now third, seven points adrift of Biggleswade, who have played two more games.

The Comrades had a fairly comfortable win at Sharpenhoe Road against bottom-side Barton Rovers.

Chris Devane’s side needed a wake-up call, however, when Kieran Hamilton put Rovers in front after 27 minutes.

Ryan Blake equalised 3 minutes before half-time and Ben Walster put the visitors in front 4 minutes after it.

Adam Watkins made it 3-1 on the hour-mark, with Tom Silford adding a fourth in the 89th minute.

Biggleswade matched Berko’s score at The Eyrie against fifth-from-bottom Hertford Town.

Tom Coles gave the Greens an 8th-minute lead that Alex Marsh added to within 2 minutes.

Marsh made it 3-0 with 37 minutes gone on the clock and then Jesse Waller Lassen pulled one back for the Blues right on half-time, although any joy in scoring was spoiled when Hertford had Dontai Stewart sent-off.

Nine minutes into the second half, Marsh completed his hat-trick to make it 4-1.

Josh Hedges scored the only goal of the game after just 8 minutes at Wodson Park to seal Didcot’s win and send them above their hosts into third place.

Kidlington remain in fifth and show no signs of slipping up after beating Thame United 2-0 on their own ASM Autos Stadium patch.

Connor Ferguson after 28 minutes and then Piers Walton with 11 minutes remaining with the Greens` goals.

Cirencester Town are sixth but were held to a 1-1 draw at Capershotts by tenth-placed Waltham Abbey.

Ben Baker broke the deadlock to give the Abbots a 64th-minute lead that Reegan Messenger cancelled out 8 minutes later.

Welwyn Garden City moved level on points with Cirencester after a 4-2 win at third-from-bottom Highworth Town.

The Citizens got off to a great start with a goal inside the opening minute from Max Jessop.

Carlos Flood then doubled the visitors` lead after 24 minutes.

Dan Drewett reduced the arrears on 31 minutes, but Bailey Stevenson bagged a brace on 50 and 76 minutes – the second from the spot – to make it 4-1, with Sol Pryce pulling a second back for the Worthians a couple of minutes later.

AFC Dunstable lost ground in losing 2-0 at Wadham Lodge against a Walthamstow side who are now a place and a point behind the OD’s in ninth.

Nicky Ironton’s men had Kieran Turner on 28 minutes and Jordon Watson on 87 minutes on target.

Second-from-bottom FC Romania’s run of consecutive defeats is now nine after they suffered a 2-1 loss at The Meadow against an Aylesbury United side who moved out of the bottom three and now five points ahead of Barton Rovers.

David Pitt gave the Ducks a 20th-minute lead that Ezra Forde added to a minute before half-time.

Mo Camara reduced the deficit after 57 minutes, but the Wolves were unable to find a leveller.

Hadley beat fellow mid-table side Biggleswade Town 4-2 in the day’s other game.

Jon Clements put the Waders ahead after 6 minutes but a brace from Moise Ndandani either side of half-time gave the hosts a 2-1 lead.

Charlie Smith equalised in the 70th minute, but two goals in a minute shortly before the final whistle from Billy Hayes sealed Hadley’s win.
